Australia to Implement Mandatory Internet Censorship

Article from: Herald Sun
AUSTRALIA will join China in implementing mandatory censoring of the internet under plans put forward by the Federal Government.
The revelations emerge as US tech giants Google, Microsoft and Yahoo, and a coalition of human rights and other groups unveiled a code of conduct aimed at safeguarding online freedom of speech and privacy. The government has declared it will not let internet users opt out of the proposed national internet filter. The plan was first created as a way to combat child pronography and adult content, but could be extended to include controversial websites on euthanasia or anorexia. MORE
I'm speechless, this is extreme!

Golden Gate Bridge officials vote for suicide net

By Associated PressArticle Launched: 10/10/2008 12:41:44 PM PDT

SAN FRANCISCO — Golden Gate Bridge officials have voted to hang a stainless steel net below the iconic span to stop suicides.
The Golden Gate Transportation District's board of directors voted 14-1 for the net option today after considering several other methods to stop people from jumping off the world-famous bridge.
Officials estimate the steel net will cost between $40 million and $50 million. The suicide prevention net will require an environmental review and further study before installation. Officials say about 20 people jump from the span every year, but 38 jumped last year and 19 have jumped so far this year.

Do they really think that will stop the suicide attempts? Perhaps they just want to reduce the popularity of the bridge being used for this purpose... I am courios about the mechanics of fishing the folks out of the nets?

Your Life Depended Upon It!

One of the best and most informative web sites I have run across is The False Claims Act Legal Center. LINK http://www.taf.org/

You can go here and see how greed is corrupting corporate America. It seems that most of the cases are against our pharmaceutical companies. One recent case really stood out against a company knowingly manufacturing faulty bulletproof vest! I mean that is really BAD!
Armor Holdings Products, a division of BAE Systems, has agreed to pay $30 million to settle a False Claims Act case in which it was accused of knowingly manufacturing and selling defective Zylon bulletproof vests with material manufactured by Toyobo Industries.
